Other actresses that have been rumoured for this role include Tatiana Maslany, Olivia Cooke, Gina Rodriguez, and Gugu Mbatha-Raw. The latest rumour suggests that Powley and Rodriguez are the leading contenders for the role.
Star Wars Episode VIII is scheduled for release on May 26th, 2017.
