In the 75 years since her inception, Wonder Woman has yet to make her big screen debut until now. Batman v Superman will mark the first time the character will appear in a feature film on screen. This is a historical moment for the character and also extremely important in paving the way for creation of the Justice League as well as building interest for her eventual solo film. The formation of the Justice League will be set-up similar to Marvel’s Cinematic Universe.
Director Zack Snyder is quoted as saying the following:
“She’s able to bring her story as the tease of more to come.”
Ben Affleck added the following about his fellow co-star
“I think once you’ve seen this movie, you’ll realize why they immediately wanted to go and make her own standalone movie, because [Gal]’s just incredible.”
Next month, filming in London begins on the solo Wonder Woman film starring Gal Gadot and directed by Patty Jenkins (Monster). The filming for Justice League will commence after. Snyder is at the head of the helm for Justice League and is in charge of uniting the heroes into one team including Batman (Ben Affleck), Superman (Henry Cavill), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), The Flash (Ezra Miller), Cyborg (Ray Fisher), and Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot).
Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice hits theaters March 25th, 2016. Wonder Woman is set to premiere on June 23rd, 2017 with Justice League Part One opening November 12th, 2017 followed by Justice League Part Two on June 14th, 2019.
