While its predecessors have always been different to other Marvel films, the upcoming Thor: Ragnarok is set to be different to other films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Director Taika Waititi spoke about this difference in a recent interview with Polygon. He stated that there are “buddy elements” to the new film between Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) and that the script has changed multiple times since the film was announced.

Waititi told Polygon that he wanted the movie to be “exciting and fun” and that it will be a film that “celebrates that group of misfits who are on the run.” This is referring to where both characters were left after the events of Avengers: Age of Ultron which saw both characters leave the core group of Avengers to pursue their own adventures. Waititi also predicts this film to be “one of the biggest” films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Thor: Ragnarok will be released in cinemas on November 3rd, 2017.
