A new report suggests that Amazon Studios is looking to sci-fi comedy Galaxy Quest (released in 1999) into a TV series. Paramount Television are said to be partnering up with Amazon to develop the series.
Several crew members who worked on the original film are confirmed to return. The crew members include the following- Dean Parisot (director of the original film) returns to direct and executive produce), Robert Gordon (co-writer of the original film) will serve as the writer and an executive producer on the pilot episode and Mark Johnson and Melissa Bernstein (executive producers on the original film) will return as the executive producers of the TV series.
While the film featured a stellar cast (including the likes of Sigourney Weaver and Alan Rickman), there is currently no word on whether any of the original cast will be asked to return as the series is still in early planning stages. As it’s being made for TV it will probably look for an entirely new cast.
Thoughts on this report? Would you watch a Galaxy Quest TV series?
