Starkiller Base Admiral Star Wars The Force Awakens

Star Wars Episode VIII has officially begun principal photography. The announcement last week came with the news that many of the cast members from Star Wars: The Force Awakens would be returning including Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Gwendoline Christie, and Andy Serkis.

However, now we know of another cast member that will be returning. One of the lesser-known cast members from the film has revealed to us that he is also “pencilled in” to appear in Episode VIII. Rony Bridges briefly appeared as a Starkiller Base Admiral in The Force Awakens (he also appeared alongside Mads Mikkelsen in Valhalla Rising) and confirmed his being “pencilled in” on the podcast a few weeks ago.

Host Ruari Williamson asked Bridges about his experience working with the cast and crew of The Force Awakens. In addition, Williamson asked whether he would be interested in working on another Star Wars project. Bridges replied:

“Given an opportunity I’d work on another one in a heartbeat. I’m pencilled in for the next one but it’s a different director {Rian Johnson}. J.J. Abrams and Tommy Gormley did a fantastic job on Star Wars VII and they worked so well together. I think it was absolutely awesome how they pulled it out of the bag because there was so many hopes and dreams for it. It’s an awesome brand to be a part of so in a heartbeat I’d do it again.”

You can hear the clip where he says this below:

Thoughts on this news? Do you think Rony will be playing the same role in Episode VIII or a different role?
