Marvel fans were really excited to learn last year that Martin Freeman (The Hobbit trilogy, Sherlock) would be part of the Captain America: Civil War cast. However, details on his role have been scarce… until now.
Empire magazine have revealed that Freeman will be playing comic series character Everett Ross. A picture of him in the film can be seen at the top of this article alongside Emily VanCamp’s Sharon Carter.
Marvel comics fans know Everett Ross the United States’ main representative in Wakanda. The character of Ross in Civil War will be tweaked slightly as he will be acting as a member of the Joint Counter Terrorist Centre.
The report also indicates that Everett Ross is likely (but not confirmed as of yet) to appear in the Black Panther movie.
“Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War finds Steve Rogers leading the newly formed team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. But after another incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability, headed by a governing body to oversee and direct the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers, resulting in two camps—one led by Steve Rogers and his desire for the Avengers to remain free to defend humanity without government interference, and the other following Tony Stark’s surprising decision to support government oversight and accountability.”
Captain America: Civil War is set for release on May 6th, 2016.
