NOTE: Sorry for the silence since teasing a new Andor guest announcement earlier in the month. Very busy month back at my job. There were complications in the end with doing that interview, but hopefully it’s one we can revisit and hopefully do at some point. I’ve deleted those posts about that Andor interview. This The Mandalorian Season 3 interview will take place next week. I’ll then be visiting family on the weekend of February 3rd but afterwards I’m looking to get back to doing new interviews more regularly. Lots of exciting interviews coming up!
Hi everyone,
I hope you’re all well and had a great Christmas if you celebrate. I wish you all a Happy New Year and hope you’ll all have a great 2024.
Thank you for your support in 2023 as we celebrated our 10 year anniversary back in June, and thanks for the support across all 10 years. 2023 was a very busy year for me between starting a new job back in January, the podcast anniversary and many other things going on, but we’re aiming for 2024 to be a big year for the podcast with lots of exciting plans from new live interviews to YouTube uploads and many other plans. We’re hoping 2024 will be our biggest year in several years and can’t wait to share more.
Before I talk about some of our aims for 2024, you might have seen I recently teased our first interview for The Mandalorian Season 3 and Captain Marvel but then didn’t announce it. We’ll still be doing the interview and I’ll follow up with the agents when they’re back at work, but it had to be postponed for two reasons. Firstly, I was just incredibly busy in my last week at work before the holidays so didn’t have time to promote and do the interview, but secondly, I found out the day before the interview from the agents that the guest was feeling sick so we had to postpone anyway. We’re looking forward to doing that interview at some point. Hopefully early-ish this year, but I’ve taken down the posts teasing that interview and will start promoting it when we have a new date.
Onto our aims for 2024, I’m aiming to do a lot more new live interviews this year than we did last year. I was offered another year at my job so I’ll have that consistency next year which is great. Having a routine I’m already used to will be great and I can do podcast stuff around it rather than getting used to another new routine. I’m very happy at my current job so it’s great I was offered at least another year. Once the first week back is done I’ll be back to working my usual routine and then I’ll be aiming to try to do as many interviews at our usual Saturday live time as possible. Sometimes with breaks/holidays or spending time with family or friends, but I’m aiming to do a lot of Saturday live interviews this year. Plus a lot of weekday live interviews too.
In terms of other podcast work I’ll be doing for the next while, I’m aiming to do a lot of things to the podcasts social media presence including improvements and revamps to our current social media platforms like our website, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Plus setting us up finally on new platforms, both social media sites and podcast hosting platforms. I’ve got a lot of plans here for these.
For our YouTube channel, we hope to be uploading a lot more regularly this year. I don’t want to over promise and not deliver, but myself and our main editor Máirín have a lot of plans for YouTube uploads. I won’t share much, but we had a crazy couple of years in our respective personal lives which is why YouTube uploads weren’t happening as regularly as either of us wanted. We talked recently and I suggested, while we needed more than 2-3 YouTube uploads per year, I’d be ok with something like a new edit being uploaded every couple of months, but Máirín wants to do a lot more than that, which I’m very grateful about so that will hopefully work out very well but, like I said, I don’t want to over promise. We’ll just see how it goes for now while keeping you updated when we have updates, and when I’ve done the podcast social media and platforms stuff, I’ll hopefully join in on the editing too.
In terms of the YouTube uploads, the next upload, as said before in previous updates, will be Ferelith Young, Eleni Syndulla from Star Wars: The Bad Batch and Ned Whynert from Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate. Ferelith’s interview will be followed by Rick Adamson, Lawton from Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s. Those are the two we’re definitely doing next. We hope to get both of them up on our YouTube channel sometime this month, but should have at least Ferelith up this month.
Following Ferelith and Rick, our next YouTube uploads we’re aiming for will be Mike Smith Rivera, Quattro and Vetrix in Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL and reprised Quattro for Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links, and Dahéli Hall, ES-04 in Star Wars: The Bad Batch. A couple of Star Wars: The Bad Batch and Yu-Gi-Oh! interviews among our planned first uploads of the year. If you’re a The Bad Batch fan, you’re certainly aware that the upcoming third season will be the final season. We were already going to do Ferelith as our next YouTube upload, as you know, so it just makes sense with the upcoming final season to do another YouTube upload for it soon too and that will be Dahéli.
Mike Smith Rivera’s interview is one of the ones I get asked most about uploading to YouTube, and it has long been a high priority for me, but as mentioned above we haven’t been able to do YouTube edits as much as we’d have liked the last two years. Mike’s interview is a high priority for early this year. In fact, I originally had planned for his upload to be before Rick’s but, if you’re a Duel Links player, you’ll know the January events announcements teased a new ZEXAL character addition with Mizar, so it just makes sense to wait on Mike a little bit longer in case there’s any event interactions between Quattro and Mizar so we can keep Mike’s interview current in terms of Duel Links images.
We have plans for lots more YouTube uploads beyond these four, but those four are the focus for early in the year. We’ll share more updates when we can on progress of those edits and future edits at some point.
Thanks as always for your support. Lots of great things to come this year! I look forward to sharing more.
