When Disney bought Lucasfilm back in October 2012 and announced Star Wars Episode VII, fans wondered if the films in the main series would keep the focus on the Skywalker family (though for a number of other fans it was a no-brainer that it would). In a recent interview, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy confirmed that the saga films will still be about the Skywalker family.
Kennedy is quoted as saying the following:
“The Saga films focus on the Skywalker family saga,” she explains. “The stories follow a linear narrative that connects to the previous six films. The Force Awakens follows Return of the Jedi and continues that generational story. The Anthology films offer opportunities to explore fresh characters, new storylines and a variety of genres inside the Star Wars universe.”
Even though it was expected by many fans, it’s still nice to have this confirmation. The anthology films will be a great way to explore fresh characters while the main films stick with the Skywalkers.

Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens is now just over two months away, and one of the characters fans are most excited about is Finn. Finn is played by John Boyega even though we know several details on him already (including that he is a Stormtrooper), new rumoured details have surfaced on the character.
The details are somewhat spoiler-y (depending on your point of view) so this is your official SPOILER alert warning, though these are rumours anyway and may not be accurate.
………………………….

……………
“The First Order isn’t huge on names, and much like the Empire before them, have all of their people go strictly by numbers and designations.” This tells you that Finn may not have a last name.
The reason Finn can use a lightsaber in The Force Awakens, without necessarily being Force sensitive (not to say that we know that he that isn’t) is that The First Order trains all their Stormtroopers to use both lightsabers and shields.”
The final detail is especially interesting, and it reads:
“Apparently Finn is Captain Phasma’s protégé of sorts. I don’t know to what degree, but it sounds like she takes the trooper under her wing during training. This would explain why Finn is part of a mission with Phasma and Kylo at the beginning of the movie, and could be part of the reason why she takes a more personal interest in tracking him down.”
Thoughts on the rumoured details? Are you excited about Finn’s character?

We’ve known for a while that Avengers: Infinity War will be big when it’s released (and the film being in two parts certainly illustrates that Marvel have big plans for the film), but now we also know that it could see the end of the Avengers team as we knew them, or at least be the final film for a number of the members.
Avengers: Age of Ultron producer Jeremy Latcham had the following to say:
“It definitely is an end to some version of the team that we’ve come to know in The Avengers. Who knows exactly what’s gonna happen yet in that film but I think this version of that team, and I think we hint to it at the end of Age of Ultron, that the team will be evolving. And one of the things that we love from the comics is that the roster is always changing. New people are coming onto the team. You can pick up an Avengers book 10 years later and you don’t recognize the people on the cover but the ideas and the ideals that make the Avengers the Avengers still exist and I think that’s part of what this culmination will be. We’re seeing this version of the team doing this thing to save the universe, the galaxy, however you want to put it, and then we’ll kind of see where that goes. You know? It’s not the end of the Marvel Cinematic Universe but I think it’s the end of part of it, for sure. We’re still trying to sort out which parts.”
The comments made by Latcham came from a Q&A promoting the Age of Ultron release on blu-ray and DVD.
Several of the cast members contracts run out soon so it’s likely that their final film would be Infinity War. Those cast members include Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Chris Evans (Captain America), Chris Hemsworth (Thor) and Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury) among others.
Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 will be released in May, 2018. The following year (2019) will see the release of Avengers: Infinity War Part 2.

Captain America: Civil War is going to be a very large film, with many characters involved and as a result rumours and speculation have been flying around since Marvel announced their Phase 3 line-up which included this film.
However, one thing that people haven’t talked about is that Captain America: Civil War is the conclusion of the Captain America trilogy, which Marvel president Kevin Feige has confirmed.
Feige had the following to say on this topic:
“It’s very much, in a certain way, the completion of a Captain America trilogy. I think one day you’ll look back and watch — Captain America: The First Avenger, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and Captain America: Civil War — and it’ll be one of the most unique and different trilogies ever around a single character.”
He also had the following to say on other major characters coming into Civil War:
“We’re bringing in some of the other players, most importantly Tony Stark, to tell that Civil War story. But it is very much a sequel to Winter Soldier.”
Captain America: Civil War will officially be released on May 6th, 2016.
Thoughts on this news? Are you disappointed that the Captain America films will end as a trilogy?

The sixth season of Game of Thrones doesn’t begin airing until next year, but with reports in recent months that the show will end after eight seasons fans are naturally beginning to feel like the show is moving towards its end.
However, a new report indicates that the Game of Thrones franchise may not end as a TV series. A movie is being planned to follow on from the end of the TV show, regardless of whether it ends after the rumoured eight seasons or goes beyond that.
The show’s creator and writer George R.R. Martin said the following to The Week:
“There will be a movie but I will not be involved. I have too much to do. That is something HBO and D.B. and David are dealing with. I have two more books to finish and I still have so much to do. The pressure is on. I am such a slow writer and the fans get upset that I don’t write faster.”
A source also suggested that the film could go back in time and feature characters that have died on the show. That statement reads:
“With the Game of Thrones universe, there is much rich material and no constraints on when that story will take place. They are looking at dipping back in time during certain periods of the series, which could be examined as a one off plot. That means that some of the big characters who fans have seen die on screen could be resurrected such as Robb Stark, Catelyn Stark, Oberyn Martell and Ned Stark.”
Thoughts on this report? Would you like to see a Game of Thrones movie?
