Recently it was announced that actress Naomi Scott (Lemonade Mouth, The Martian, Terra Nova) would be playing the Pink Ranger in the new Power Rangers film. Now the latest casting for the new film has been revealed.
Dacre Montgomery (Family Tree, Betrand the Terrible) will be playing the Red Ranger.
Montgomery is an unknown actor currently but starring in the new Power Rangers film is sure to make him become well-known.
The new Power Rangers film is scheduled to be released on January 13th, 2017.
The Star Wars universe has a vast number of heroes and villains in its ever-expanding universe, with a number of the characters being playable in the new Star Wars: Battlefront video-game. Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader and Boba Fett have previously been confirmed to be playable, but now three more iconic Star Wars characters are confirmed.
These characters include Leia Organa, Han Solo and The Emperor.
EA said the following on their press release about the abilities each character will be able to do:
Leia: “It’s clear that Leia is a leader, so in Star Wars Battlefront she’s very much about support play, buffing team members, and holding positions. Furthermore, players spawning close to her will spawn as Alderaan Honor Guards. That said, she’s got a lot of offensive output as well. Just look at the original Star Wars trilogy: you’ll notice that when Leia shoots at stormtroopers, she kills them quickly.”
Solo: “Gameplay-wise, Han Solo is a gunslinger mainly designed for lone wolves and, echoing the beginning of the original Star Wars trilogy, he’s not very dependent on others. Similar to a Rebel trooper, but with a greatly boosted arsenal, Han Solo might be the easiest Hero character to get into. Offensive output, damage, and mobility — that’s what this guy’s about.”
Emperor: “We wanted many different things with the Emperor. We wanted him to be very mobile, but also about deception and fooling people that he’s fragile and weak. As you’ve seen in the original Star Wars trilogy, Palpatine pretends to be a weak old man, when he in fact is extremely powerful. That two-faced side was something we wanted to convey in gameplay and the Emperor’s abilities.”
Thoughts on this news? Are you looking forward to playing as these three characters?
Marvel fans were very excited when Daniel Brühl (Rush, Inglorious Basterds) was cast to play Baron Zemo in next years’ Captain America: Civil War, but now some (potentially) bad news has been confirmed by the actor.
Zemo won’t appear exactly as he does in the comics because he won’t be wearing his mask.
Brühl is quoted as saying the following:
“He does not wear the mask.”
He added that Marvel went for a modern take on Zemo, which he explains in the below quote:
“It’s loosely connected to this character. But that’s what I like about the Marvel guys, some of the characters and things they’re dealing with always reference to current events so my character is from a different area than you would think.”
Brühl also hinted that he could feature in Marvel films after Civil War.
Captain America: Civil War is scheduled for release on May 6th, 2016.
Star Wars fans have been going nuts over the official The Force Awakens trailer and the tickets going on sale, so what they may have missed is that this year’s highly-anticipated film now has a rating.
The rating has been given as PG-13 (as evidenced by physical movie tickets that fans bought in person). Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was given the same rating recently for intense sequences of violence and action, so expect the reason for The Force Awakens having the same rating to be the same.
Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens becomes the second Star Wars film to be given a PG-13 rating, following Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith (released in 2005). All prior Star Wars films had been given a PG rating.
Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens will officially be released on December 18th.
Lucasfilm have released the official trailer for Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens. The official trailer follows two teaser trailers, released April this year and November last year respectively.
You can watch the official trailer below:
The trailer was released by Lucasfilm during ESPN’s Monday Night Football.
Thoughts on the official trailer? Are you excited for The Force Awakens?
Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) recently had to bow out of directing the Gambit film due to a clash with other commitments, but it looks Fox may have found their replacement.
Doug Liman (The Bourne Identity, Edge of Tomorrow) is rumoured to be in the running to become the new director, with the films lead Channing Tatum said to be trying to convince Liman to take the position.
This would be Liman’s first time directing a comic book movie, though he had once been considered for Watchmen.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story may be the first of the anthology films on the way from Disney and Lucasfilm, but it has been interesting as far as writers are concerned. A new rumour has hinted at a third writer working on the film in some capacity.
Gary Whitta (After Earth, The Book of Eli, The Walking Dead: Telltale Game) wrote the first draft for the film, with Chris Weitz (The Twilight Saga: New Moon, The Golden Compass, Cinderella) following him to work on the shooting script. The new rumour suggests that Christopher McQuarrie (Mission: Impossible- Rogue Nation, Jack Reacher, Edge of Tomorrow) was hired for two weeks to polish the Rogue One script.
While it’s unknown when he was brought in (if at all), the film has been filming since August so it would likely have been before filming began.
The release of the new Star Wars: Battlefront on November 17th is looming closer, but while we wait Sony and EA have released a commercial for the game which is sure to hit fans in the feels.
You can watch the commercial below:
Star Wars: Battlefront is scheduled for release on November 17th and will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
Shortly after Legion was announced, many wondered how and if the television series will connect to the X-Men Cinematic Universe.
As of right now, no one is sure if they have thought about tying the two together but are unsure of how the events from the films will impact the series. Also, it isn’t known if they just haven’t given the idea of a crossover much thought.
Legion showrunner Noah Hawley is quoted as saying the following:
“I think more the latter. We certainly haven’t had any conversations about crossovers. I don’t know anything about it, but I think that one is more linearly taken out of the world of the movies. Ours has its own world to it.”
In relation to the movies, it sounds like everything will be from the same universe. However, there will be little to no interaction as of now.
“”It’s conceived more as a standalone. I don’t want to say too much more about it on that level, but certainly it’s not constructed as a back-door anything. It’s more just that there’s a story that I want to explore that has to fit into that larger universe, which is exciting.”
Legion and Hellfire were announced last week. Both are targeted for development at FX and FOX for the 2016-2017 TV season.
What do you think of the possibility of a crossover? Are you looking forward to Legion and Hellfire?
