Continuing on with our guest announcements, we’ve got another great guest announcement coming later today!
We’ll be announcing another rare Star Wars guest from the Original Trilogy.
This actor is best-known for his stand-in and body double work, including on a couple of major Star Wars characters. He also played an alien in A New Hope.
I’m looking forward to revealing who this guest is!
DC’s upcoming Suicide Squad film may be centred on a group of villains, but even villains need love. A new report (which includes a quote from the film’s director David Ayer) suggests that Suicide Squad will have a love triangle in the midst of the action.
The report stemmed from comments by Ayer indicating that Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn will be inspired by current takes on the character, including the New 52 comics and Batman Assault on Arkham- an animated film released last year. Both show a Harley Quinn that is not just The Joker’s sidekick.
Ayer is quoted as saying the following:
“It’s about her breaking free of The Joker and becoming this fully actualised, independent person. That really is a metaphor for everyone’s journey here.”
Instead, Harley will be getting close to Will Smith’s Deadshot (just like the New 52 and Assault on Arkham). Smith is quoted as saying the following:
“Harley is the biggest troublemaker, but Deadshot’s actually eyeballing her a little bit. There’s a pretty ragged romantic triangle there.”
Suicide Squad is scheduled to be released on August 5th, 2016.
Ghostbusters fans may be eagerly (or uneagerly) anticipating the all-female Ghostbusters reboot, but a new Ghostbusters Lego set that has been announced may hold them over for now.
The set is based on the iconic Ghostbusters firehouse. It includes 4,634 pieces and features opening walls, a laboratory, living quarters, a containment unit and includes nine mini-figures: Peter Venkman, Raymond Stantz, Egon Spengler, Winston Zeddemore, Janine Melnitz, Dana Barrett, Louis Tully, Zombie Driver and Library Ghost, plus Slimer, Pink Ghost and Blue Ghost.
The set will be released in January 2016 and is priced at $349.99 in the US.
Henry Czerny (Revenge, Mission: Impossible, The Tudors) has been cast as Winslow Schott/Toyman in Supergirl, which premiered on CBS this week.
Czerny is currently only confirmed for one episode, but there is always the possibility that he will be asked to do more.
A description of the character from the comics is below:
“Toyman is a legacy name used by several characters, primarily enemies of Superman in Metropolis. Designing numerous deadly toys as weaponry, he is a sociopathic mechanical genius.”
Indiana Jones producer Frank Marshall has confirmed that Indiana Jones won’t be re-cast for the next film in the series. Marshall is quoted as saying the following:
“We’re not doing the Bond thing where we’re going to call somebody else Indiana Jones… we have to figure this out.”
In fact, Marshall also admitted that the creative team hasn’t even really started discussing the fifth instalment yet:
“There are a lot of rumours. We haven’t even sat down to talk about Indy yet… at some point we’ll sit down. But there’s a bunch of people who could probably take the baton.”
Before anyone asks, by saying ‘take the baton’ he could indicate that a new character will take over the franchise after Indiana Jones. It does not imply a re-casting of the iconic character.
The Australian Government recently revealed filming for Thor: Ragnarok would be taking place in their country. Following that news, Marvel have revealed details on when pre-production and principal photography will take place for the third Thor film.
Pre-production in Queensland will take place in January 2016, with filming to follow in June 2016 at the same location.
Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk is quoted as saying the following:
“This is a huge win for Queensland and I am thrilled that Thor will be filming exclusively in our state. As our economy diversifies, Queensland is demonstrating its strength as a lead destination for filmmakers both internationally and locally, and my government is doing what it can to ensure that Queensland remains a global hub for the screen sector. The production will spend more than $100 million AUD in Queensland and will employ over 750 Queensland crew.”
Furthermore, Marvel Studios Co-President Louis D’Esposito is quoted as saying the following:
“Queensland offers an amazing and diverse backdrop for ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ and we are very excited to bring this film to such an incredible locale. Marvel Studios would like to thank the Queensland Government for helping to make this a reality.”
Thor: Ragnarok is scheduled for release on November 3rd, 2017.
Actress Bryce Dallas Howard, who played Claire in this year’s Jurassic World, has confirmed that the sequel will begin filming in 2017.
Howard revealed the news while promoting the DVD release of the first film.
Nothing has been confirmed about the plot of the film, but Howard will be returning, as will Chris Pratt (Owen Grady). The first films director Colin Trevorrow will only serve as a writer on the sequel.
The Jurassic World sequel is scheduled to be released on June 22nd, 2018.
