Fans are still recovering from Ridley Scott’s reveal that the title of the Prometheus sequel was changed from Alien: Paradise Lost to Alien: Covenant, but now the official logo, synopsis and release date for the film have been revealed at the same time.
The synopsis can be read below:
“Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created in Alien with Alien: Covenant, the second chapter in a prequel trilogy that began with Prometheus — and connects directly to Scott’s 1979 seminal work of science fiction. Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the “synthetic” David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.”
Alien: Covenant is scheduled for release on October 6th, 2017.
X-Men: Apocalypse isn’t due for release until May next year, but a report has surfaced that the following X-Men film will begin shooting in 2017.
Bryan Singer, whose X-Men credits include the original film, X2: X-Men United, X-Men: First Class and X-Men: Days of Future Past (as well as Apocalypse) will reportedly return to direct the film, which may film at Montreal (where scenes for Apocalypse were shot).
No release date has officially been announced, but Fox are reportedly targeting the summer of 2018 as the estimated release of the film.
This year’s instalment was one of the biggest in the Fast & Furious series, with Furious 7 paying a great tribute to star Paul Walker (Brian O’Connor). Recent reports had indicated that the series will end after ten films, but news has broken that spin-off films are in development.
The news was broken by star Vin Diesel, who has played Dominic Toretto since the original film in the series (The Fast and the Furious). Vin Diesel is quoted as saying the following:
“We’ve written out story lines for various characters. We’ve been playing with it for a long time. It’s a very rich property and we’re committed to treating with a lot of class.”
Universal Pictures Chairman Donna Langley added the following:
“We’re certainly in conversations about how we can expand the franchise now. It’s an ensemble cast and there’s room to bring characters in and out.”
The cast and crew are currently focused on the final trilogy of films (which will end the main series at ten films) before really digging into the spin-off ideas. Fast & Furious is the latest franchise to delve into spin-offs, with Star Wars, Transformers and The Walking Dead as other recent examples.
Fast & Furious 8 has a scheduled release date of April 14th, 2017.
Just as it did this year, Marvel’s Agent Carter series will air weekly during Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D’s hiatus at the beginning of 2016.

Last month, it was announced that B.D. Wong (Jurassic Park, Jurassic World, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit) had been cast as Professor Hugo Strange in Gotham, and now the actor has shared the possible first look at his version of the character.
The image at the top of the articles shows seven possible looks for Hugo Strange on the show. Which will be the final look that the showrunners go with?
Wong has also teased that Hugo Strange will be featured in a scene with The Penguin. He is quoted as saying the following:

Grant Gustin may be wowing DC fans on the small-screen with his take on The Flash, but in the next few years we’ll have another take on The Flash to look forward to. The film take on the character will see Ezra Miller (The Perks of Being a Wallflower, We Need to Talk About Kevin, Trainwreck) play the title role.
Warner Bros. faces a battle to make Miller’s take on the character as popular, but Miller himself doesn’t seem overly concerned. The actor is quoted as saying the following:
“Well, it’s going to be a movie. I’d like for it to be an exploration of a human being, a multi-dimensional human being. “I hope to realize him as a person, and I think what’s most exciting for me in superhero mythologies is when we feel the humanity of someone who is heroic — or the heroism of someone who is a flawed, deeply human person.”
