Fox’s X-Men spin-off Gambit movie will reportedly begin filming in New Orleans this March.
The film was originally supposed to begin filming last November, but director Rupert Wyatt’s (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) exit and the hiring of Doug Liman (The Bourne Identity, Edge of Tomorrow) to replace him led to delays in the production.
The Gambit movie is still scheduled for release on October 7th, 2016, but is expected to be pushed back until 2017.

Marvel Studios have officially announced that Ryan Coogler (Creed, Fruitvale Station) will be directing the Black Panther movie, following a previous report that Marvel were looking to hire him for the job.
A press release from Marvel Studios reads as follows:
“It’s official, Marvelites: Ryan Coogler will step up to direct Marvel’s “Black Panther,” in theaters February 16, 2018!
Chadwick Boseman will star in “Black Panther” after debuting as the character in the upcoming Marvel’s “Captain America: Civil War,” in theaters May 6.
“We are fortunate to have such an esteemed filmmaker join the Marvel family,” said producer Kevin Feige. “The talents Ryan showcased in his first two films easily made him our top choice to direct ‘Black Panther.’ Many fans have waited a long time to see Black Panther in his own film, and with Ryan we know we’ve found the perfect director to bring T’Challa’s story to life.”
Coogler wrote and directed his first award-winning feature film, “Fruitvale Station,” in 2013. Most recently he directed the critically-acclaimed “Creed,” which earned Sylvester Stallone a Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture.
Black Panther has been an important character in the Marvel universe for 50 years. He is the king of the technologically-advanced nation of Wakanda, and Panther has served as a member of the Avengers in addition to his many solo adventures.”

Director J.J. Abrams has confirmed the recently released Star Wars: The Force Awakens will not have an extended cut when it’s released on DVD/Blu-ray.
Abrams is quoted as saying the following on this and the length of the longest cut of the film:
“There will be deleted scenes, but not an extended version. Probably, if it were with credits, close to two hours and 50 minutes was the first cut.”
The question had been raised as fans were hoping for deleted scenes (including shots that were in the trailers) to be edited back in for an extended or directors cut of The Force Awakens.
Abrams also spoke about Star Wars Episode VIII (which is being directed by Rian Johnson). Abrams had the following to say on the second instalment of the Sequel Trilogy:
“It’s not my movie to talk about, but I will say that Rian’s an amazing writer and director. I’m obviously really excited about what he’s going to do.”

Star Wars: Rebels will be continuing its second season on January 20th with an episode titled “A Princess on Lothal”, as previously reported.
The episode will feature the debut of Princess Leia Organa on Rebels, making her the latest character from the films to appear in the show. She is voiced by Julie Dolan (Detention, Beverly Hills Cop III, Star Wars: Uprising).
You can watch a clip from the episode here:
Executive producer Dave Filoni had the following to say on bringing Leia into the show:
“We thought we had an opportunity to show her learning to be a leader, experimenting with the personality that becomes the stronger more resolute character you see in A New Hope. One of the complex challenges of depicting Leia in Rebels is that we have to remind the audience that at this point she is part of the Empire. She doesn’t believe in the Empire, but she is acting the part, almost a double agent.”
Star Wars: Rebels is set to return on January 20th.
