Hans Zimmer (Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, The Dark Knight Trilogy) has announced that he has finished scoring superhero films.
Zimmer, whose vast credits also include Interstellar, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Man of Steel, Inception, Gladiator, Sherlock Holmes, Pirates of the Caribbean, The Lion King, Madagascar and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, announced his retirement from the genre personally on an episode of BBC HARDtalk.
Zimmer is quoted as saying the following:
“I did Batman Begins with Chris [Nolan] 12 years ago, so The Dark Knight Trilogy might be three movies to you, to me it was 11 years of my life. [Batman v Superman] was very hard for me to do, to try to find new language.”
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is currently out in cinemas.
Thoughts on this news? Are you disappointed that Hans Zimmer won’t be scoring anymore superhero movies?

Tom Hiddleston (Loki) has indicated that Thor: Ragnarok could mark his final appearance as Loki in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Hiddleston is quoted as saying the following:
“Thor 3 will be cool because I’ve not done it for four years. I love working with Chris [Hemsworth]. This will be my last time out of the gate. I don’t know! Honestly, I don’t know. They haven’t got their ducks in a row yet. They make it up as they go along.”
Sounds like we’ll have to wait and see what Marvel’s plan with Loki is, but Thor: Ragnarok could be the last time we see Tom Hiddleston play the character.
Thor: Ragnarok is scheduled for release on November 3rd, 2017.
Thoughts on this report? Will you be sad if Thor: Ragnarok is Tom Hiddleston’s last time playing Loki?

Contrary to her previous comments on the subject of doing more X-Men movies after X-Men: Apocalypse, Jennifer Lawrence (Raven/Mystique) has stated that she wants to appear in more X-Men movies.
Lawrence is quoted as saying the following:
“I am dying to come back. I love these movies, I love being in them. I love ensemble movies because it’s not on anyone’s shoulders.”
Following her signing on for three X-Men movies in her initial contract for the X-Men franchise, Lawrence has gone on to headline The Hunger Games franchise and win numerous awards. She has been vocal about her dislike for the blue make-up necessary to play Mystique, but it sounds like she’s willing to continue playing Mystique regardless.
However, as X-Men: Apocalypse is the end of the prequel trilogy it remains to be seen whether Lawrence (and Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy and Nicholas Hoult) could return. The contracts for all four cast members expires after Apocalypse.
X-Men: Apocalypse is set to open on May 27th, 2016.

Anticipation for X-Men: Apocalypse is building up with the movie coming out next month, but fans can look forward to more X-Men movies beyond Apocalypse. One of these is the spin-off movie based on The New Mutants comic series.
While little is known about the film, Producer Simon Kinberg has offered an update on the status of the films production. Josh Boone (The Fault in Our Stars) is directing the film.
Kinberg is quoted as saying the following:
“Josh Boone and his writing partner are working on the script. They’re doing a really nice job of it, and it’s a really cool one, because in many ways, like Deadpool was so different from the mainline X-Men movies, New Mutants… It’s maybe not as different as Deadpool, but it has its own unique, original voice to it. That’s the fun for me, working in the X-Men universe, creating these sort of standalone movies that have a different vibe to them. And New Mutants has more of a YA [Young Adult] vibe to it.”
As far as what characters will be included, Kinberg had the following to say:
“There’s a very deep bench. There’s a long, long list of names, and I’ll tell you some of the names on that list I don’t even know. That’s how deep it goes. Traditionally, the New Mutants have some characters that cross over from the mainline X-Men movies. As we are going, I would say it’s likely that you will see some familiar faces.”
New Mutants characters have already started appearing in the mainline X-Men movies, with both Warpath and Sunspot featuring in X-Men: Days of Future Past.

Following the Star Wars: Rebels Season 2 finale episode “Twilight of the Apprentice”, Star Wars fans have been left wondering where the story of fan-favourite character Ahsoka Tano lies next. While we won’t get those answers right away, a new novel has been announced (titled “Ahsoka”) that will tell her story from leaving the Jedi Order in Star Wars: The Clone Wars to becoming “Fulcrum” in Star Wars: Rebels.
A description of the novel from Disney and Lucasfilm can be read below:
“Ahsoka Tano, fan favorite character from Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels, will be the star of her own young adult novel from Disney Lucasfilm Press this October 11, 2016! Fans have long wondered what happened to Ahsoka after she left the Jedi Order near the end of the Clone Wars, and before she re-appeared as the mysterious Rebel operative Fulcrum in Rebels. Finally, her story will begin to be told. Following her experiences with the Jedi and the devastation of Order 66, Ahsoka is unsure she can be part of a larger whole ever again. But her desire to fight the evils of the Empire and protect those who need it will lead her right to Bail Organa, and the Rebel Alliance….”
The novel will be written by E.K. Johnston (author of A Thousand Nights) and is scheduled for release on October 11th.
Rebels Executive Producer and The Clone Wars Supervising Director Dave Filoni is quoted as saying the following on the novel:
“Ahsoka has a long history, and there is much more to it than the fans know. I have always worked on her story, even parts that I know we will probably never see on screen. By broadening her story from the animated series to the written page, I feel we have a real opportunity to provide fans with details about her character that they would not know otherwise. We are also responding to the strong fan support that we have seen Ahsoka receive over the last eight years. The fans want more Ahsoka and we are going to give it to you, and since I’ve been there since the beginning I am dedicated to working with publishing to help make this book as authentic a part of her story as if we filmed it for the series.”
“Ahsoka” is scheduled for release on October 11th, 2016.

Fans of Star Wars: The Clone Wars lobbied Lucasfilm for years to release a soundtrack for the show, but a new report indicates that Lucasfilm are on top of the ball game where the on-going animated series, Star Wars: Rebels, is concerned. A soundtrack for the first two seasons is reportedly coming soon.
Composer Kevin Kiner, who composed the scores for both shows, confirmed recently at Wondercon in Los Angeles that Star Wars fans will be able to enjoy the Rebels tunes in soundtrack form soon.
It was only after Star Wars: The Clone Wars ended that a soundtrack was released for that series, so it’s great to hear that a Rebels soundtrack is being released while the show is still on-air. This means it’s possible we could get another Rebels soundtrack down the line.
Thoughts on this report? Are you looking forward to being able to enjoy the Star Wars: Rebels soundtracks on their own?

Williams spoke to Sander De Lange and Jelle Kuipers of Teekay-421 at the recent Dutch Comic Con where he confirmed this, also mentioning that he would be recording both episodes within the next two weeks.
The third season of Star Wars: Rebels will begin airing later this year.
