Prior to the Season 6 premiere tomorrow, HBO has officially renewed Game of Thrones for a seventh season.
This isn’t a surprise as showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss have previously indicated that they intend to do at least eight seasons. However, it’s still nice to get confirmation of the renewal for seventh season- especially as the sixth season hasn’t begun airing yet.
The seventh and eighth seasons are rumoured to be shorter than the other seasons. All of the other seasons (including Season 6) have had ten episodes.
The sixth season of Game of Thrones premieres tomorrow, April 24th.
Thoughts on this news? Are you looking forward to more seasons of Game of Thrones?

Elizabeth Olsen will be reprising her role of Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch for Avengers: Infinity War Part 1.
The news was revealed by co-director Joe Russo during the Captain America: Civil War “Team Captain America” press conference. He started off by talking about her arc in Civil War and concluded by revealing that she will appear in Avengers: Infinity War Part 1.
Russo is quoted as saying the following:
“She is on a growth arc, and it is part of her development. It is very tricky with powerful characters, because unless they have an internal struggle or a flaw that limits them then they do become limitless, and the storytelling becomes muddled and not very interesting. You know she could’ve stopped that fight at the airport in 5 seconds if she were at the peak of her powers, so it really has to do her character specifically going on a journey to understand what the limits of her powers are. She makes a mistake very early in the movie that sets her back, and we’ll get to see where she goes in Infinity War.”
Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 is scheduled for release on May 4th, 2018.
Thoughts on this news? Are you looking forward to seeing more of Scarlet Witch in Avengers: Infinity War?

Production on Star Wars Episode VIII is well underway. Though the film won’t be released until December next year, many fans are excited to see the next adventures of Rey, Finn and Luke Skywalker.
Poe Dameron (played by Oscar Isaac) will also be returning for the film. Isaac himself recently spoke to LA Times about progress on the production under new direction Rian Johnson and what the new film feels like.
Isaac is quoted as saying the following on comments by The Force Awakens co-writer Lawrence Kasdan stating that Johnson’s work would be “weird” and “unlike anything that’s ever been in Star Wars”:
“I would agree with [Kasdan], Rian is definitely going to places and investigating things that haven’t really been done in the ‘Star Wars’ universe. For me, it’s so fun getting to explore different things that I wouldn’t have expected in this universe.”
In addition, he is quoted as saying the following on the indie vibe he feels working with Johnson on Episode VIII has:
“In some ways it feels like we’re making an independent film, Certain things we get to play with – this kind of intimacy that we get to find – it’s special. It’s been really fun.”
Star Wars Episode VIII is scheduled for release on December 15th, 2017.
Thoughts on what Oscar said? Does this make you more or less excited for the release of Star Wars Episode VIII?
