Marvel’s television division officially announced that Ghost Rider will be joining Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D in the shows fourth season at San Diego Comic-Con last month. Gabriel Luna (Matador, Wicked City, True Detective) will be starring as Robbie Reyes.
Rumours had been making the rounds for months over Ghost Rider potentially appearing on the show. However, fans shouldn’t expect more famous incarnations of Ghost Rider like Johnny Blaze or Danny Ketch to appear on the show. The showrunners of S.H.I.E.L.D have specifically chosen to focus on Reyes.
A description of the character in the comics is below:
“Created by Felipe Smith and Tradd Moore, Reyes debuted in the 2014 Marvel Now! All-New Ghost Rider series. The Mexican-American teen was gifted the power of Hellfire after he was tragically gunned down during a street race where he was attempting to win money to move him and his younger, disabled brother out of their seedy neighbourhood. However, Reyes was revived by a spirited named Eli who revived Reyes (complete with hellish powers!) in exchange for the teen’s help in avenging Eli’s death.”
With Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D looking for a darker tone in the fourth season Reyes will undoubtedly bring more grit and drama to the show.

An official image by the CW revealed Tyler Hoechlin’s first appearance as Superman. Hoechlin joins the cast of Supergirl for the upcoming second season.
Fans may recognise Hoechlin for his roles in Teen Wolf and Road to Perdition. Superman was only featured in brief shots for previous episodes and it was nothing more than a blurry image or silhouette. Now Hoechlin will bring Kal-El/Clark Kent to life in television. His first appearance will be in the start of the new season as Superman visits National City to see his cousin, Kara.
The new costume is a great mix of both old and new with inspiration coming from Reign of Superman (mid-90’s), the New 52 version, 2011 redesign, and Injustice: Gods Among Us. Of course, the classic blue and red colour scheme remains with the beloved “S” present.
Hoechlin was interviewed at Comic-Con International in San Diego where comparisons were made between Henry Cavill’s portrayal and his own take on Superman.
No definite explanation has been given on why Superman is visiting National City. One can easily speculate it’s because of the mysterious Kryptonian escape pod crash-landing. This occurred on the outskirts of the city. Krypton was experiencing great turmoil with an uprising. The pod crashed near National City only hours within the uprising ending. After these events, the Kryptonian mind-control satellite no longer had an influence over Earth.
Kiersten Ronning is the creative mind behind the Superman costume. She is also the costume designer for Supergirl.
The second season of Supergirl will begin airing on Monday, October 10th. The second season airs on the CW.
What are your thoughts on Tyler Hoechlin playing Superman? Do you like the design of the suit?
