The Batman: The Killing Joke animated movie has officially been given an R-rating.
This follows reports since last year that the film could be getting an R-rating. Producer James Tucker suggested at a New York Comic Con panel last year that they could give it an R-rating, but cautioned that just because they could doesn’t mean that they should. Warner Bros. Animation & Warner Series President Sam Register has confirmed that they did.
Register is quoted as saying the following:
“From the start of production, we encouraged producer Bruce Timm and our team at Warner Bros. Animation to remain faithful to the original story — regardless of the eventual MPAA rating. The Killing Joke is revered by the fans, particularly for its blunt, often-shocking adult themes and situations. We felt it was our responsibility to present our core audience — the comics-loving community — with an animated film that authentically represented the tale they know all too well.”
Batman: The Killing Joke is the first DC animated movie to receive an R-rating. The film will debut at San Diego Comic-Con in July before being released on home video later in the year.

The Walking Dead companion series Fear The Walking Dead has been renewed for a third season, just one week after the second season premiered on AMC. The second season premiered to a viewership of 8.8 million.
The third season will have a total of sixteen episodes and air in 2017. Chris Hardwick’s The Talking Dead: Fear after-show will also get another season- airing after each episode of Fear The Walking Dead.
Charlie Collier, president of AMC, SundanceTV and AMC Studios is quoted as saying the following in a press release:
“What Dave Erickson and Robert Kirkman have invented in ‘Fear The Walking Dead’ is to be applauded. Watching Los Angeles crumble through the eyes of our characters and seeing each make decisions and try to figure out the rules of their new world – it’s fresh, eerie and compelling and we’re all in for the ride. As Victor Strand observed, ‘The only way to survive a mad world is to embrace the madness.’ We thank the millions of fans for embracing this mad world and look forward to sailing far into the future.”

U.S. intelligence officer Amanda Waller has determined only a secretly convened group of disparate, despicable individuals with next to nothing to lose will do. However, once they realize they weren’t picked to succeed but chosen for their patent culpability when they inevitably fail, will the Suicide Squad resolve to die trying, or decide it’s every man for himself?”

A new live action Pokémon movie is reportedly on the way.
The report suggests that Warner Bros. and Legendary are in a bidding war over the live action movie rights to the Pokémon franchise. Legendary are reportedly the frontrunners for the movie rights (though Warner Bros. had great success with the first animated movie over 15 years ago).
Legendary are hoping to develop that movie into a big budget live action film based on Ash Ketchum and his partner Pikachu.
There are obstacles standing in the way of Legendary’s pursuit of the live action rights though. Legendary is owned by a Chinese conglomerate and political tensions between China and Japan could add difficulties to Legendary’s bid for the Pokemon rights, though Legendary has previously been involved with Godzilla (another major Japanese franchise).
Thoughts on this report? Would you like to see a new live action Pokémon movie?
