The return of Star Wars to the big screen this year is a big deal for many, but for a lot of people the return of the popular Star Wars Battlefront video-games is just as big of a deal. Even though the game is still not due out until November 17th, there is massive hype surrounding the first DLC for the new Battlefront.

Not only is the first DLC, “The Battle of Jakku”, related to this year’s Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens release but the events of the DLC are canon to and tie in directly with the film. To preview the DLC, EA have released two pieces of concept art and a description for the DLC. Note: One of the pieces of concept art was shown at the D23 Expo prior to its official release).

EA’s description of the DLC reads: “

Taking place in the aftermath of the Rebel victory in the Battle of Endor, players will experience the events that created the massive, battle-scarred landscape of Jakku shown in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.”

DICE concept artist Anton Grandert previewed the DLC further, saying this about the highly anticipated DLC:

“There’s a David and Goliath theme to this. The epic, huge super structures of the Star Destroyers contrast against the tiny but brave Rebel soldiers fighting the Imperial forces.

We wanted to portray a battle completely surrounding you, in every direction. Debris is falling from the sky, telling the story of battles above. On the surface of the planet you can see ground troops as well as X-wings, all taking part of the fight”

Fans who have pre-ordered Battlefront can play the DLC on December 1st, but everyone who hasn’t pre-ordered will have to wait until December 7th when it is made free to the public.

Thoughts on the preview? Are you looking forward to playing the first DLC when it’s made available?
